Launch of the Yearbook of International Disaster Law at the Geneva Academy IHL & HR
On 9th March 2020 the book launch of the inaugural issue of the Yearbook of International Disaster Law was organized at the prestigious Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, in cooperation with the IFRC Disaster Law Programme and the Jean Monnet Project ‘Disseminating Disaster Law for Europe’.
The book launch was moderated by Giulio Bartolini (academic coordinator DILAW4E and editor-in-chief of the Yearbook). Speakers included Gian Luca Burci (Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies); Dug Cubie, (UCC, editor of the Yearbook and member of the DILW4E); Isabelle Granger, Global Legislative Advocacy Coordinator (IFRC and member DILAW4E); Walter Kaelin (Professor Emeritus for International and Constitutional Law, University of Bern, Envoy of the Chair of the Platform on Disaster Displacement); Alice Sironi (Migration Law Specialist, International Organization for Migration). Introductory remarks involved Cécile Aptel (Director of the Policy, Strategy and Knowledge Department, IFRC) and Marco Sassòli (Director, Geneva Academy, Professor of International Law, University of Geneva).
The Yearbook of International Disaster Law might include publications of DILAW4E’s staff, based on a peer-review process.
